Where I live

This is the Cee Dee Yes complex. The picture is a little dark, I'll get you another one soon.

This is one of the cars that take us to work everyday. The green one is Balaji's. He is pretty careful (don't worry, Mom). But some of the drivers have pretty neat skills. You can decently pack 5 persons in one of those babies. 6 is a bit too much as I experienced once. Believe me, you don't wanna know how the stick shift feels like. :'(

Chennai's Airport

This is it. Well it's more like the crowd in the airport.
Immigration let us pass with no problem (more on Indian Immigration later). There were nice lines of people, waiting for a visa check. Lines. Queues. Funny how this concept only applies to the airport in Chennai. To no other place! And more on this later too :D

There is this interesting feeling when you arrive in India (or maybe any other Asian country): It seems like something is always hitting your skin. You keep on slapping yourself and still, there must be a mosquito, somewhere. So you overspray yourself with DEET (50%) and try to forget about it.

It's too bad I don't have a picture of outside the airport. The view was great but just too dark (midnight) for my camera. Lots and lots of extra small cars. Half a million of people waiting outside with banners. You just have to pick the right banner. Well Jerry (flying along) found it. So we got in our car (one each) and got driven away.

And the thrill started. Driving in India is... Just incredible. I'll make sure I tell you more about it. But picture this: You've spent the last 24 hours or so in a semi-sleeping, semi-trapped in a giant metallic tube, state and you land in India where you wait an hour for your luggages. A bit stunned you step into that really small car and BOOM! Near Death Experience at each and every crossroads. Trafic lights are useless. You'd never thought there were so many ways to pass a truck. Sometimes horns stay silent. And you keep on holding to your seat. Are we there yet? How about now?

My first picture

Hehehe. I finally figured out how to access an FTP site from work. Thanks Debraj ;) I can now publish all the pictures I want!

So yeah, my first picture. Well, not too India-related, he! Just a joke for my friend niko:

This was a Lufthansa flight. Seats are good with enough room and all that. EWR - FRA followed by FRA - MAA. Left Saturday night and arrived on Sunday night. I'll tell you more...

How to publish pictures?

So here I am, looking for a way to insert pictures into this baby.
I tried Blogger because I was told it was SOoooo easy to publish pictures along with comments. Well guess what: Blogger gives you nowhere to store those pictures. You could try Hello and Picasa but:

  1. Hello is a peer-to-peer app that I don't need
  2. I can't even run it from work.
Have I told you that I had no internet, no computer at home? Oh man this is hard!

So if any of you (two) know a picture storage service that would let me access pictures via an HTTP URL, please tell me about it.

RSS Feed

Oh yeah: This is for the tech fanatics out there: Blogger offers its own RSS feed service. That means that if you want to know when I publish a new blog, the right minute I just posted it, use this feed.

And here is for those who do not know what is an RSS feed (in French). Plus a nice little tool to start with.

What this is for

Back from a presentation session on UML. Like I need this. I've had better than UML presentation sessions. I've had an entire UML project with my friend JF. That must be worth 10 times a random UML prez :)

So this blog will help me share visions of India with you. What I want this webpage to be is a public space where I can talk to you about what is different in here, compared to the western world.

I have many things to tell you about: Cows, dogs, holes, buses, roads and also food, work, people. And I've got pictures too! So please bookmark this page and be patient. I still don't have any way to post my pictures in here. But I'll figure something out.

Creation session

Well I guess this is where I will post my different pictures and stories about my trip in India. Seems convenient enough.
I'm not sure yet if I should post in English or in French. But I guess English is the most popular language among my friends...
